Is there any relationship between stainless steel finishing and its resistance to corrosion?

Yes, this relationship exists and the different types of finishing for the same stainless steel grade can lead to different responses to certain aggressive media. In general, the lesser the roughness of a surface finishing, the greater resistance to corrosion the material will have. The finishing that results from sanding processes is less resistant than the one obtained from a traditional manufacturing process (rolling, annealing and final pickling).
