What is Water Island?

A pumping station directly powered by photovoltaic panels.
The system consists of 4 simple components:

  1. high efficiency solar panels,
  2. the drive (controller),
  3. a synchronous motor,
  4. a pump for fluid movement.

The Water island is the solar pumping system designed by MONDEO in collaboration with leading experts in the field of applied research in clean and efficient energy technologies.

How does it work?

It automatically activates at sunrise.
When the current generated by sunlight reaches a minimum level of 20V DC and a power of 3W, the drive activates the motor pump, and tracks and maintains optimum operating parameters.
Different types of pumps can be installed:

  • submersible well pumps, used to draw and pump from underground water sources
  • surface pumps, used to draw water for irrigation or deliver water from one place to another
  • circulation pumps, used to re-circulate and purify water in closed circuits (e.g., swimming pools or tubs).

All the advantages of an independent and automatic system.

  • Independent from electrical supply lines, generator groups and uninterruptible power sources (UPS).
  • No batteries required, (acids, distilled water), elimination of the disposal costs at the end of its life cycle.
  • No maintenance required other than cleaning the photovoltaic panels annually from dust and debris.
  • PV modules guaranteed to be efficient for 25 years.
  • New generation motor, maximum efficiency with zero maintenance.
  • Each pump installed reduces 280 Kg of CO2 emissions annually.
  • Fully automatic operating mode.
  • Easy to install; no complicated settings.
use: Designed to transfer water from wells to storage tanks.

use: Designed to deliver water from storage tanks for irrigation and domestic water supply applications.

use: Designed to re-circulate and purify water in closed circuits, such as swimming pools, tubs or fountains.
