Check valves are versatile, perfect for many different applications. They can be used to let fluid flow in a single direction in both domestic and industrial systems, to treat water, air or industrial fluids.
Naturally, these multiple uses are the reason why it is important to assess the mechanical or chemical stress that the valves come up against while working, so as to choose the most suitable type.
Mondeo has developed a series of check valves in its Idrja and Small range – more specifically Idrja AC and Small AC – that are specifically for heavy-duty use, as in compressed air systems.
Heavy-duty use indicates all those situations where the valve opens and closes very frequently. Valves that are most suited to heavy-duty use can therefore guarantee increased resistance and duration, because designed to move repeatedly many times.
This situation is typical with compressed air, but also in some industrial applications, for example fluid mixing.
The technical characteristics to make a check valve that is suitable for compressed air and other heavy-duty uses must guarantee a very high level of reliability.
The main purpose is to ensure that the valve always works in axis, even when facing intense movement cycles, so that mechanical wear is reduced to a minimum in spite of intense operation.
To obtain this result, Mondeo intervened on the valve heart, strengthening its disc.
The disc stem extends downwards and has a double-guide system, so disc centring in its seat is guaranteed and disc movement is facilitated. The system includes an upper and a lower disc guide, both Teflon: this polymer is ideal for high resistance valves because it associates long life with a low wear coefficient and self-lubrication.
Thanks to these technical measures our check valves will work from three to ten times longer than a normal valve.
