Pneumatic valves

Motorised valves are ball and butterfly interception valves, with an apparatus that permits remote closing and opening by way of an electric or pneumatic actuator. The pneumatic actuator transmits movement to the valve using compressed air as the movement fluid. Pneumatic actuators can be double or single effect: in the first case it is the air that opens and closes, while in the other case closing is controlled by a spring.

Compared to electric actuators, pneumatic solutions stand out for:

  • a simpler structure, with a reduced number of moving parts
  • lower exposure to wear and consequently reduced maintenance requirements
  • compact dimensions, ideal for installations in limited spaces

An additional advantage is related to the physical properties of compressed air: the low inertia of the system allows very fast response times, making pneumatic actuators suitable also for applications requiring high operating speeds and frequent cycles
