As part of a broader strategy to enhance energy efficiency and a transition to cleaner energy sources, Mondeo has recently completed the installation of a heat pump system for heating its entire facility.

The implementation of the system presented some structural challenges. During the design phase, it became necessary to install the heat pumps not on the roof of the main building, but rather on the peripheral canopies, which have a lower load-bearing capacity.

To address this need, Mondeo selected the Big Foot Systems solution, for which Mondeo Clima is the authorized distributor in Italy. This solution is ideal for evenly distributing the weight of equipment installed on flat roofs, transferring the load to the most structurally resistant points. In the specific case of the expansion project of Mondeo’s production facility, the optimal choice – agreed upon with the structural engineer – was to position the load distribution plates along the main beams of the canopies located around the perimeter of the newly constructed area.

An additional advantage of the Big Foot system is the protection of waterproofing layers:
the support plates do not damage the membranes and, being height-adjustable, ensure dynamic interaction with the shape of the roof. Furthermore, each plate can be individually disassembled, thus facilitating maintenance operations.

The project included all possible support solutions offered by the system,
such as various sizes of modular frames and specific supports for special applications with or without HEA beams (HD-BEAM and HD-CUBE). Big Foot Systems stands out for its wide range of available configurations and, consequently, its adaptability to specific needs.
